The Maharashtra State Gazetted Medical Officers Association (MAGMO) initiated a statewide protest on 27 October 2025 seeking justice in the suspicious death case of Dr. Sampada Munde, as well as demanding improvements in the safety, dignity, and working conditions of government medical officers across the state. Medical officers and MAGMO representatives from all districts actively participated.
Following the completion of the first stage, the second phase commenced on 1 November 2025. The third phase, which included a statewide closure of OPD services from 7 November 2025, was scheduled to intensify the protest. Considering the potential impact on public healthcare services, the government expressed readiness to initiate dialogue.
A crucial meeting took place on 6 November 2025 at the official residence 'Ramgiri' in Nagpur with Hon. Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis. The discussions covered the impartial investigation of Dr. Munde's death, establishment of a robust medical officer security policy, reduction of workload stress, and legal safeguards to protect government medical professionals.
The Hon. Chief Minister **agreed in principle to the primary demands** submitted by MAGMO on 27 October 2025 and assured a positive resolution of the remaining concerns. Directions to relevant administrative and law-and-order authorities were also assured.
In view of the constructive outcome of the meeting, MAGMO announces that the ongoing statewide strike and work cessation is **temporarily suspended**. However, if the commitments are not fulfilled within a reasonable timeframe, MAGMO will resume and intensify the agitation.
